Smarter from Installation to Output

From installation to final output, FontAgent Pro brings new and unrivaled smarts to creative projects of all kinds. Its new capabilities include intelligent features, many of which are industry firsts.

Smart Installer: The FontAgent Pro 4 installer automatically detects and displays the plug-ins and extensions required by users’ installed applications. They can then select the plug-ins they want or choose to install them manually.

Smart Diagnostics: FontAgent Pro4 automatically runs an array of diagnostics and repair tasks as users add fonts, avoiding the costs, delays, and errors that occur from using separate font-integrity tools.

Smart Font Profiling: FontAgent Pro 4 automatically gathers in-depth font descriptors and metrics and makes them available for viewing and searching so users can find the perfect font for each project. FontAgent Pro provides descriptors including font name, foundry, family, style, format, version, categories, as well as slant, proportion and weight metrics.

SmartViews: FontAgent Pro 4 provides more ways to view and select fonts including waterfall, paragraph, custom, Font Data, Font Player™ and FontCompare™ views. Each view can create font book PDF and hard-copy output for sharing with associates.

Smart Activation: Insider’s new FontSavant artificial intelligence font-matching technology detects even the most subtle differences among fonts, providing the most accurate font auto-activation possible. When no installed fonts match one required by a document, MagicMatch™ provides a list of alternate fonts with a relevancy ranking that shows how closely it matches the requested font.

Smart Sets: In addition to hierarchical sets, FontAgent Pro now supports Smart Sets, which are sets whose contents dynamically update when users add a font whose characteristics match the Smart Set’s criteria.

Smart Search: Fast, flexible and detailed searching on font descriptors, comments and metrics as well as usage details that include activation status, activating applications and many other criteria. Users can enter a keyword such as cowboy or winter and FontAgent Pro 4 finds matching fonts—both on their local machine and on the Internet. Smart searches can be saved as a Smart Set with a click.

Smart Store: When users see a font they like on the Internet, they can view and purchase the font in seconds. All purchased fonts are available for immediate use in FontAgent Pro.

Smart Classification: FontAgent Pro 4 automatically classifies fonts in industry-standard categories including serif, sans serif, display and symbol styles such as Transitional, Modern, Grotesk, Humanist Decorative, Brush, Calligraphy Dingbats, Ornaments and more. Users can add or modify classifications to suit their style and find fonts in specific categories with ease.

Smart Scripts: Using FontAgent Pro 4’s extensive scripting capabilities, creative and IT professionals can automate document workflow, save time and maximize accuracy as they inspect, manipulate and modify fonts, sets and libraries.

Smart Enterprise: FontAgent Pro 4 integrates with the FontAgent Pro SuperServer so agencies, departments and entire enterprises can bring font consistency and control to their desktops.

One Smart Cat: Support for Leopard, Tiger, Panther and Classic

FontAgent Pro is one smart cat, compatible with the Leopard, Tiger and Panther releases of Apple’s Mac OS X operating system. It even supports Classic mode for users who need to revert to older Mac OS 9 applications.

System Requirements

FontAgent Pro 4 requires Mac OS X version 10.3 or later running on an Intel Mac or Power Mac, and 15 MB of memory. It supports all Mac OS X fonts, including Open Type, Type 1, dfont, and Mac and Windows TrueType. FontAgent Pro Server requires Mac OS X version 10.4 or later and 256 MB of memory. FontAgent Pro supports local and networked home directories.

Pricing and Availability

FontAgent Pro 4 has a suggested retail price of $99.95. FontAgent Pro Workgroup Edition with serverless font-sharing and the FontAgent Pro Client are priced at $129.95. Users owning licenses of earlier versions of FontAgent Pro can upgrade to Version 4 Standalone Edition for $49.95 US. Upgrades to the workgroup or server editions from earlier versions of FontAgent Pro are $64.95. Upgrades are free for users who have purchased their licenses on or after November 15, 2007.
